The Optitude Challenge is a new curriculum designed to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities by improving the quality of life for the dedicated people that support them.

We know the employee qualities listed below have dramatic effects on people’s lives:

 Employee Ability to:
• Be positive
• See the good
• Build others up
• Expect things to go well
• Deal effectively with stress
• Be grateful for good things in life
• Bounce back when things don’t go well

When these abilities are in place in the people we employ, good things tend to happen  -- we think of ways to help increase a person’s self esteem or creative ways for a person to meet new friends or we likely take more time to really talk with people and find out what choices they want to make in life, believing that we can help them accomplish changes in their lives.  Many times it’s difficult to think about making another person’s life better when there are so many other issues competing for our thoughts – problems with money, spouses, kids, legal issues, medical problems, divorces – ultimately life events that can lead us to not see life very positively.  This curriculum teaches skills that lead to an ability to think more positively, deal effectively with stress, bounce back from difficult times and establish more positive relationships with people in our lives.

When employees don’t get along – the quality of what we do decreases quickly as stress, tension and significant energy is poured into negativity, leaving little for enhancing people’s lives.  This curriculum is designed to address the creation of a more positive culture throughout the organization – improving the effectiveness and cohesiveness of teams as people learn skills that will help them both at home and in the workplace.

Optitude Challenge Participants Say...

"When I signed up for the Optitude Challenge I had no idea what it would entail and to be totally honest was somewhat frightened and unsure of what I was about to endure.  To my surprise the class was wonderful!  I could not have had better instructors as they kept the mood light and fun.  It was really nice to have my co workers and staff members from other parts of the company join.  The input from all of the different areas was enlightening because we all think and act more alike than I had experienced on a daily basis.  I realized there are a lot of others I work with that do appreciate me for who I am when that was not my perception at all.  I have tried very hard since taking this class to be a more optimistic person as I have not always been that type of person.  In ways it is hare, in other ways it has been easier especially by the people who took the class with me.  I now have a much broader support system and feel a little closer to the people I shared with .  I have also learned to take a step back and think before I leap, at least some of the time.  I am really grateful for being given the opportunity to take this class and hope all of my co workers get this same opportunity.  Actually I believe that other businesses would benefit from this class as it does create a better team experience and work environment. Thanks for the class!" Patty B.

"I just wanted to take a few minutes to say “thank you” for allowing me to take part in the Optitude Challenge.  I find myself more attuned to being positive and grateful for so many things and people whom we take for granted.  For instance, I realized just how thankful I am for my boss and employees.  Instead of complaining about others shortcomings, praise them for their efforts regardless of how little it may be.  We all have a gift, some more noticeable than others.  During the course of the four sessions, I found myself excited and looking forward to our class time.  I realized I often listen but fail to hear what people are actually saying.  Life is truly what you make it." Jackie

"The Optitude Challenge class was a rewarding and helpful class to me in every way.  I really enjoyed it and it was a really fun learning experience.  I found out how to deal with stress and to have an optimistic point in life.  It has helped my relationship with my family, friends, and spouse.  I would not change anything about the class.  I think it explains and details every aspect.  I am really grateful that I had the opportunity to be a part of the class and to live my life in a more optimistic way. It also brought me closer to my co workers and staff.  Thank you!" JW
